Channel Health Check in Indonesia

Review an existing partner network’s performance, coverage and commercial terms. Focused on Indonesia.

Research, channel development and digital marketing support

Indonesia's digital economy is estimated at USD 99 billion in gross merchandise value in 2025, up 14 percent year on year, according to the e-Conomy SEA 2025 report by Google, Temasek and Bain & Company. Marketplace listings make part of a partner’s reach visible, yet a claim of national coverage across Indonesia’s islands still needs direct verification, and licensing records confirm legal standing rather than real distribution. A Channel Health Check for Indonesia tests what partners report against marketplace, retail and authorised records in the regions they are contracted to serve.

Checking channel performance in Indonesia

Indonesia’s scale makes direct market verification more important than registry data.

OSS-RBA and AHU records confirm whether a partner holds a valid NIB and licensing consistent with its claimed distribution activity. That establishes legal standing. It does not confirm real distribution reach, and a valid licence says nothing about how consistently a partner serves the islands and regions named in its contract.

Indonesia’s geographic spread means a partner’s national coverage claim has to be checked region by region. Presence in Jakarta or on Java does not demonstrate distribution in Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi or eastern Indonesia, so checks on Tokopedia, Shopee and physical retail are scoped to the partner’s actual contracted territory rather than to the most convenient locations.

Sales evidence has to come from authorised records: your own data and what partners share with you. Investment realisation reports (LKPM) filed by PT PMA partners describe investment activity rather than product sales, so they are not treated as sales verification even where a partner makes them available. The report labels any figure that cannot be corroborated.

How the Health Check works in Indonesia

The core diagnostic, applied to Indonesia’s islands, licensing records and marketplaces.

Island and regional coverage

We map Java and each other contracted region separately and design marketplace and retail checks for each one. A Jakarta presence is never taken as evidence of national distribution, and the report shows which regions were checked and how thoroughly.

Licensing and legal standing

We review OSS-RBA and AHU records for a valid NIB and licensing consistent with the partner’s claimed activity. These records confirm legal standing only, so they are kept separate from the findings about reach and performance.

Sales evidence

We use authorised client and partner records as the basis for assessing sales performance, and we note where those records are incomplete. Investment reports such as LKPM are not treated as product-sales verification, and figures that cannot be corroborated are labelled accordingly.

Marketplace and physical presence

We define which seller listings and outlets are in scope and distinguish authorised partner activity from unrelated resellers. Prices observed on marketplaces and in stores are recorded with dates and compared with your intended positioning in each region.

What to watch for in Indonesia

These are the most common reasons channel reviews in Indonesia misjudge a partner’s reach.

Assuming licensing equals coverage

A valid NIB and distribution licence confirm legal standing, not actual reach across Indonesia’s islands. Claimed national coverage is verified through marketplace and regional checks before it is accepted as fact.

Java-centric verification for a national partner

Checking only Jakarta and Java will miss gaps in Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and eastern Indonesia. Verification is scoped to match the partner’s contracted territory, even when that makes the sample harder to collect.

What you receive

The engagement letter confirms the final deliverables and level of detail.

Diagnostic report

Documented observations for each partner, the limitations of the data used and a ranked list of the issues that matter most. Each finding shows its source, so your team can see whether it rests on partner statements, internal records or independent observation.

Coverage and performance view

A side-by-side comparison of what each partner committed to, in territory, channels and performance, with what the available evidence shows. It highlights where the network is thinner than assumed and where pricing has moved away from your intended positioning.

Action recommendations

Questions to put to partners, options to investigate before renewal or expansion, and where a replacement search or specialist legal review may be warranted. The findings and the reasoning behind them are walked through with your team.

Frequently asked questions

Practical answers for planning your marketing brief.

How do you tell authorised sellers from resellers on marketplaces?

Scoping defines which storefronts belong to your partners. Other listings are recorded separately, because unrelated resellers can distort both the coverage picture and the observed prices.

Is this a new distributor search?

No. It assesses the current network. Distributor Shortlist is the related service for identifying candidates.

Can every sales figure be independently verified?

No. Available evidence varies. The report should distinguish partner statements, client records and independently observed information.

How is market coverage checked?

Through store, marketplace and B2B channel checks in the contracted territories, supplemented by registry or trade data where it exists. The report states the size and limits of each sample.
