Vietnam significantly tightened online advertising enforcement from February 2026 through new implementing rules under its Law on Advertising. They require unlawful online ads to be blocked or removed within 24 hours of a request from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism or another competent authority, and these obligations reach advertisers, advertising service providers, carriers and publishers. A campaign therefore needs its claims reviewed before launch and a clear owner on the client side who can respond quickly if a notice arrives.
The same rules cap the wait before a video ad can be turned off at 5 seconds, and static image ads must be closable with no wait. A search-only launch is not affected, but the limits apply as soon as YouTube or other video components are added, so it is worth flagging early if video is on the roadmap. Ad claims themselves must be truthful and avoid prohibited content categories, as in any market.
Buyer language matters as much as compliance. Ad copy translated from a home-market campaign often reads unnaturally and misses the terms Vietnamese buyers use for the same product. Campaigns built from Vietnamese keyword research, with separate English ad groups only where the audience calls for them, keep the ad, the search and the landing page aligned. Conversion tracking and remarketing audiences, meanwhile, need a documented consent basis under the Personal Data Protection Law.
